A good machine. The latest ones are over 25 years old at this time. Everything needs to be inspected. Drive line, wobble assembly, conditioning rolls, frame, and tongue. The biggest problem is the hinge area of the tongue can break over time especially if it is not lubricated but other damage can happen. I am looking for an upgrade for a mower conditioner and the 489 is high on the list given its selling price versus the latter New Hollands. The nice things about the disc units is faster ground speed and they are a little more rock tolerant. A 489 with stub guards would be a good find.
