I was in the UK back in the early '60's and it was unlawful to have your vehicle in motion with the parking lights on.
Found that peculiar as in S. TX. that is what you used at dawn and dusk rather than head lights (the custom, not the law). Course now going and coming from work (used to before retiring) I hated to drive at those times as lots of oncoming vehicles had no lights at all and the vehicles just blended in with the scenery. Dare not pass.
