MH axles...might as well talk about ethanol, oil additives, or politics.
The answer to your question is maybe. The backing plates and brakes shouldn't be a problem. Finding a hub/drum to fit the spindles on your axles might be a problem. You'll need to match up the bearing sizes. If you have Dexter axles finding a hub with the correct size inner bearing should be doable. The problem is the outer bearings on most hubs are bigger than the outers on MH axles.
MH axles get a bad rap. For the most part they are ok. The problem is the stupid wheel mounting system. I've had 5 or 6 trailers with MH axles. One is an equipment trailer we built in 1987. That trailer is still in service and has had zero problems.
I did have a bearing failure on a car hauler with MH axles. That was on me because of lack of maintenance.
MH tires ARE junk. The lowboy tires are fine.
Search the trailer parts suppliers websites. I ran across one a few years back that showed bearing sizes for various hubs and axles.
