Mike, the problem today is that some states have really cracked down on overweight pickups. Others suggested that you find a trailer to rent or borrow and keep it legal. I really think that's the best way to do it. It's much better to pay to rent for a trailer than it is to get a rather large fine, plus have to have a for hire person come out to pick off one engine and deliver it for you. Or worse yet to have a major failure like a broken axle and have a repair bill plus towing. Or worse yet, because of the weight not being able to stop and hitting another vehicle where being overweight will open you up to all kinds of liability issues. In todays sue/ticket happy world being safe and legal has it's benefits.
If you are doing this for someone else have them rent a trailer.
