This might work unless you get too much wind and blow all the heat away. My dad had a HD 10 AC dozer with a Detroit that needed ether to start in the summer. We would put 5 gallon of diesel in a barrel in cold weather and when that was gone it would usually start. One time it was real cold and put too much in and it blew the head.
