Several decades ago, I usedta play around with it, we let apple cider ferment, in the barrel, to become hard cider. Then we would let the barrel freeze, to become apple jack. Then you boil the apple jack and distill it into lightnin jack, you have to be careful to throw out the first pint or so, that's the esters from the apple flavor. it gives you headaches and hangover symptoms. Lightnin jack could then be mixed with straight apple cider, to make the drink we knew as LPR. Most here knows what that is...
