I own a 1953 JD model 60. The exhaust manafold gasket has been deteriorating for some time but I wanted to finish haying before replacing it. After 4 hours of baling oil began spraying on the right front side causing the exhaust pipe to smoke. I shut it down but couldn't tell where the oil was comming from. I've decided to remove the head and have the valves ground. My question is can the head be removed without first removing the manifolds? Also does anyone have an idea where the oil could have come from?
