It was 3 above yesterday AM. Took 3 hours to do chores that normally take 1 hour or so. Then had youngest boy help me get the JD40C with the bad clutch out of a bad spot. Clutch just wouldn't give her enough grunt to get the frozen tracks up a little hill and no room to do a 180 and drive out in 1st. Got that done and got the yard sort of plowed from the 6-8" of hard snow. Hard lunch, went to town for milk and grain, stopped by church to see if I could get in to put the heat tape and insulation I bought on the water pipe in the basement but Pastor was gone, got back and worked getting all the buried stuff found and unfrozen so I can put my manure spreader back together. The spreader needs to be done so I can move the 2 tillers I was working on out of the garage so I can get my JD40C up to the garage to do the clutch. Before I really get into that I need to get the stove pipe in so I have some cheap heat. Then we did chores again and prepared the best meal- Thanksgiving left overs! Delicious! Spen tthe rest of the evening with my youngest boy watching 2 Jimmy Stewart westerns- "Bend of the River" and "The Far Country" while mom and the girls watched girl shows involving murder and feelings and such.

Today will be a repeat with moving the sheep and some round bales added and the trip to town out of the picture.

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
