On the 1770 planters there is a big chunk of steel on the main frame that's got a bunch of hydraulic valves in it. If one of the pressure relief valves goes bad, your lift will do all sorts of funny things, like left wing goes up, left end main frame down, right side main frame up, right wing down.
It took 2 hours to diagnose it, then 3 hours to do 40 minutes of driving and steal one out of a new planter that was on the lot. That particular piece gets used in several applications and they didn't have one on the shelf.
And they sure are proud of their chinese castings. "MADE IN CHINA" cast right into them in big letters.
If the local Case dealer had more service capability and a couple of the parts were as heavy as on the JD we'd have a Case planter.
