: : Have yall seen the slow tractor races at antique tractor club get-togethers? My club (West Ga. 2 Cylinder Club) has slow races and tractor pulls twice a year. My JD 40 Standard (wide front) has been very successful in winning these races. It can get down low and make the tires jerk every time a piston fires. Theoretically, a 40 Utility or M tuned the same should be slower due to smaller diameter rear tires, but I have not found one yet. I hear that a JD 50 should perform the best due to lower overall gearing than other models, but I have not seen the numbers for the ratios. So, has anybody got a super-slow tractor or some super-slow tips? : I was at WESTMINSTER MD. tractor show 1997 saw a wheelhorse garden tractor with a hidedrostat transmission they ran 3 races he had not even crossed they start line when the 3races were over and he was in the first race they put lines on the ground to see if he was even moving he went about 2ft in about 15min. the slowest thing i have ever seen Mickey Letting a hydrostat enter a slow contest is like letting a 4wd pull with 2wd tractors. Any hydro should if, properly adjusted, beat any gear tractor every time.
