My wife and I both got CPLs a few years ago, but we never bother carrying. We have rental property in Pontiac, which has one of the highest crime rates in the country. I've found it to be a fair amount of aggravation to work on a house with a pistol stuck inside your waistband.
In Michigan, you do need to notify any law enforcement officers you happen to come in contact with that you have a CPL, even if you're not carrying. I was taken to task by one cop for not telling him when I was involved in a traffic accident. The CPL came up when he ran my driver's license.
