Food for thought...... Many parts stores use computers for several reasons. One reason is that it takes up less space then the necessary hard copies. Another is that multiple counterpersons can be looking up parts at the same time without having to purchase 2 or more sets of books. Most important is the last reason: With a computer, the store can apply the "warm body" theory. What that means is that any IDIOT with NO EXPERIENCE can actually look up a part in most cases. This brings down the pay scale, and saves a lot of expensive training of new personnel. It also opens up the available labor force to the store owner.
