When I worked in the Mines and they would be hoisting ore to the surface, I would have to climb the steel man-way ladders in the shaft 1200 feet to get to the surface. Then go to the warehouse and get whatever parts I needed to fix whatever machine I was working on and then go back down. I could make a 2400 foot round trip in about 50 minutes without tiring myself out.
