Plexiglass tends to crack even when drilling holes in it so it would not be that good for a shield. (Maybe better than nothing I guess) Lexan seems to be much better. I have used it for shields on lathes and surface grinders and had parts thrown at it pretty hard and shields are still there. I have a piece on my Cub Cadet soft cab for a windshield. It fit the curve without cracking. Drilling works good too. I was told Lexan in a thicker piece is what most banks use for bullet proof glass.
