Don't know your location, but I have done up to 10 foot whips (bareroot) with no problem in Michigan.
I have never bought from the guys you mention, only because they don't have a few cultivars that I am looking for. Their prices are right on with every thing else I have seen for bareroot whips.
Not sure how you will be planting them, but we could discuss more if you want.
Here is the setup I use for big bare roots. It cuts 12" wide and 16" deep, or more if you have the horsepower. I can run 200 trees/hour with this setup. A 150hp 4wd would pull this perfect. Or you could use a post hole digger if you don't mind looking behind you all the time.
The last pic is of Emerald Lustre maples 9-10 foot whips, planted in the spring. Picture was in October, with minimal weed control for that year.
If you do want to discuss more, ping me on here since I don't check my email often.
