My wife is a (pmr) post master at one of our little town offices. They have cut the office hours back from 6-8 hours to 2 hours. Employees are dropping like flies. I don't see how they expect anyone to drive 30 minutes to work for 2 hours pay. It doesn't make economical sense.
Most of the small town offices in our area are going to be closed within the next 1-2 years and all mail will come from the largest one in the county seat. They are just waiting for all the union post masters to retire so they can close them. They are temporarily replacing them with pmr post masters that only work 2-4 hours per day with no benefits.
Think your mail is slow now, wait a couple of years and see how it is.
