I Had 2 sets of aunts and uncles that retired and traveled in campers. they made the ground trip to Alaska a combined total of 7 times. I took Dad for a trip by land up there in 98. Loved the Alaska hwy for its remoteness. Whitehorse, Fairbanks, And Dawson city are worth the trip alone. Denali is not to be missed and the narrow gauge train out of Skagway is spectacular. We fished for salmon in Valdez. Having talked with people who see it by cruse or tour, I think they miss about half of it. And then the best half. I would not go again unless I had the time to travel the hwy and see it all from the interior.
