Since Dodge is now a 100% Italian company - I don't know how much has changed. Dodge and Chevy burned up billions of our tax dollars and never repaid. Ford is the only USA company left that stands on its own.
As to quality? I'm clueless with the new stuff and I see buying new (for myself) a huge waste of money unless needed for a business. My 1992 Dodge 4WD extended cab diesel has been bullet-proof mechanically. Great engine (intercooled turbo Cummins). Great trans (five speed German Getrag), and body has held up fine. Also great fuel mileage. Rides like a Sherman tank. A reliable and a bit crude utilitarian truck. My 87 Chevy diesel has had countless engine problems (small ones), two transmission failures (700R4), etc. but rides like a car. My 1994 Ford F250 extended cab 4WD turbo-diesel has had no problems in 250,000 miles except normal wear and one trans rebuild (E40D). Rides like a Cadillac. Gets 2-3 MPG less then my Dodge-Cummins empty or loaded and has less pulling power.
By the way - I still have my 1969 Dodge W200 Power Wagon that I bought in 1979. A true piece of junk. I think every part of that truck has failed at least twice except the engine (318). Has 4.88 axles and gets 7 MPG on the highway. Probably the worst built truck I've ever owned.
