Western Coyotes like you have are small timid animals Eastern Coyotes are really a Eastern Red Wolf/Coyote cross according to the Wildlife people and we kill them that weigh over 60 lbs.Normally they will not attack a human but a neighbor did have one stand its ground and growl at him down at his chicken house one night,neighbor had a 12 Ga. so the episode ended quickly and not so well for the Coyote.Dogs less than then 35 lbs and house cats are part of the Coyote's diet around here plus sheep,goats and calves.
