That, folks, is a 'tillage radish'. More commonly. a Daikon Radish. Little buggers put a tap root down about 2-3 feet and sequester N and P. They die after a few nights of 10-15 degree temps, the leaves make a winter cover, then the root rots and leaves a channel into the ground for water to permeate. I have noticed a marked increase in yields where we used them last year. I only wish we could plant them later in the fall behind combine corn. And they are great to plant into next spring...
