Couplers aren"t bad- just different? Does the tractor have ISO couplers? They look similar to a standard Pioneer, but have a longer shank. My 1983 JD 4450 MFWD has them, all the earlier JDs I have/had, used the JD coupler. AC and my Case 2470 and others used Pioneer, IH had their own style, as did JD. If they"re not right, they simply don"t couple. It took the industry 40 years to standardize couplers.....so we deal with adapters, extra source of leaks, RATS! the adapters are in the other tool box!, etc.
