I got you now. The JD 4010/4020 motor will do fine on a 14 rotary cutter. I had forgotten that JD did have that model of rotary cutter. I just jumped to conclusion that it was a Mo-Co.
You just need to set your draw bar to the correct length. That would be measured from the center hole in the draw bar to the end of the PTO shaft on the tractor.
540 PTO would be 14 inches and 1000 PTO would be 16 inches.
In the picture you would lift (#22) up and slide the draw bar into the correct hole for the PTO length you need. You can see in the picture you have three holes to chose form.
