One year I tilled up an area and put the pumice on it and raked it in. Next year lots of apple trees came up. Then I transplanted them to a larger area where half of them died. I let the rest of them grow with plans to graft scions from a known good apple tree onto the rootstock. Next step was to sell the place and move to Wi. If you decide to try it, you have to put drive a stick close to and taller than the graft so birds have a place to land other wise they land on the graft and break it off. I may do it again this year, but not as many.
