Here are the details. Since Sunday afternoon, about 120A of 3rd cut alfalfa hay was cut. The custom baleing crew is a corperate beef farm that bought up about 1000A of local land, and is running around 5000 head of several breeds of beef cattle. Lots of high tensil 4 wire fence and rotational padocks. The uncles have to mow and windrow the crop and then the baleing crew comes in and takes over. They are currently paying $40 bucks per bale. One T bales. They are making just less than 3 bales per acer, with the 3rd cutting. First cut yielded over 4 ton per acer, but poor quality, as it rained every other day in June. Second cut was poor, with limited rain.
The custom baleing crew is made up of two Kubota MX125's with loaders, and two tractor trailers, and at the storage site, a Bobcat skid steer and another Kubota running a tube wrapper. Just a side note. The round baler is run by a gorgious young, long haired blond gal. dam, wish I was young and single again. LOL. Loren the Acg.
