I was fortunate enough to be employed about a half mile from the Rock Island railroad tracks in 1976 and saw many flatcars with the Spirit of 76 tractors passing by. Being a stupid kid, I didn't realize that the Railroad was nearing the anniversary of the 100 year promise/contract that they would exist until that time. Our younger generation won't know that what once was common is now no more.
