Starting over would be costly no doubt, I do not have access to a rig that I could road test on, real funny after all the years of experience, having to do this over, as well as being in good health, and as safety conscious as it gets when driving a commercial rig.

I am thankful I remembered on my own, for my last regular physical, January '13 I scheduled it to be a D.O.T. physical, passed everything, and now receiving this letter 9 months later, they must have audited CDL holders and saw nothing was on file. I knew the last time I renewed my CDL A license in July 2009, that it was required to have and present the medical examiners card, or they would not renew it, but nothing was said about a copy being retained on file, at that time, nor have I heard anything about it until I received this letter. I'd be ticked, I paid for 8 years worth, DMV fee, + the health benefits deductible, well over $200 to renew, I'd expect to be prorated for half that cost immediately if they for any reason revoked me, miserable pr$cks ! I understand the safety aspect, and the reason, its the administration of things so common with some, not all, state agencies, there are good ones too, believe it or not. So now I'll have to mark the date, January '15, I'll have to send in my next medical examiners D.O.T. card, or bring it to the dmv office in person seeing I do not want to wait for a letter telling me to do so.

A person in this state can miss things like this, as NY DMV will not forward any correspondence or official business etc. you move, you may not receive vital information. I moved way back, in the early 90's, more than once and a company I worked for failed to pay a no inspection ticket on their rig, unbeknownst to me at the time, I erroneously accepted the ticket being written in my name, (rotten s.o.b, who issued like that- thats right I'm trashing one particular law enforcement person) handed it in, they never paid. I was suspended for months, never knew it, got pulled over, then redirected off road to a parking lot to be weighed on portable scales, was over with a tandem dump, that I loaded out myself, from a site job, per the boss, no way to know, was not heaped over the sides but... still over, then was harassed, threatened to be locked up, issued 6 tickets, but talked my way out of that incarceration, darned cops were not very nice at all, but I did hash it out with them, I don't take crap from anyone, fine you want to cuff me and haul me in, I won't act like a jerk if thats what you have to do, but said, do what you must and my atty will deal with your superiors shortly. I then went to that old employer, had it out with him, he still refused to pay, had to refrain from losing it and tossing him through a window, then went to the court the ticket was issued from paid his lousy fine of a couple hundred, then went to DMV, removed the suspension then back to work. I never recovered the money, a loss for showing up to work $#@! Some of the crap a driver has to deal with sometimes, especially when all you do is show up to work, do what is asked of you, and this is the thanks you get.

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
