I've driven 3 farmall H's thru my lifetime and all of them were and still are 6 volt with generators.
These tractors get worked and don't idle around in parades. So the batteries stay charged. You have to keep your eyes on the amp meter to make sure they are charging just like you watch the temp and oil gauges.
I educated myself on generators years ago by reading an old Motors Manual from the early 1950's. All you need to make one preliminary check is a 6-12 volt test lite to see if a generator is good.
