What would you do??

Well I had a guy bring in a cub cadet for me to fix. He payed for the parts etc but every thing I did, did not fix the hydrostatic drive problem. So I did charge him for my time in what was done. So he said he would come and pay me tomorrow and then gift it to me since he would not be able to do any thing with it. I am thinking I will hand him back 50% of the money he pays me. So what do you guys think??? I did not ask for the cub cadet and do not really have any thing I need the parts for. But I do feel bad that he is willing to pay me for my time plus give it to me
