Sam, a farm where I hung out as a kid and was milking around 70 Holsteins at the time, is now milking around 1100. They chop with two six or eight row New Holland choppers, and blow direct into large body 10 wheeler dumps. They run a fleet of approx. 18 trucks because some of their corn ground is some miles away. The choppers don't stop for changing trucks. The empty truck is along side the one getting filled so that the chopper driver needs to just lift his spout to start loading the next one. Then the filled one slows down and the new one moves in. When they get onto wet ground they have a large tractor with a tire on the front that will go back and forth at the wet parts close behind the trucks so that when the truck starts to spin the tractor keeps it going. They had approx. 1200 acres in corn last I knew.
