Up until the 1920's, Hawthorn extract was the recommended treatment for heart failure. It is still recommended by some alternative doctors like Dr Weils and Whitaker. Some countrys in Europe use to this day. I called a leading vitamin and herb company a few years ago to find where they source their hawthorn berries to make the extract...Romania was the answer. Seems like I would have enough in the back pastures to supply them for years.
