I would say not since because the question is diesel as opposed to diesel going into new JDs. You have to look at what diesel the engine was built to run on. I would not dare to go without added lubricant in a diesel engine built for high sulfur fuel. I use two stroke oil myself, because it is formulated to both lubricate and burn.
