I will take the guess work out of it for ya... a to short belt will not cause it to be to tight on one that uses a auto tensioned..
Sounds like it will but they don't work that way....
Tensioners use mechanical advantage,,, its marked on most all I have ever seen (look good at one)... Once you go beyond it the tensioner looses its mechanical advantage long are short...
When I replace a belt I always look at the window marked on the tensioner... If I am in it I have the belt on correct if I am out of it I have the wrong belt are the belt is not aligned correctly...
