Cleaning the threads with a Die of the exact size and thread pitch is first. Then purchase a split nut that has a pinch bolt to assure it is clamped to the threads. I do not know where to find the size you need, but it could also be made. by a machinest or welded up from a grade 8 nut and a cross bolt to tighten. I would not do this on a road vehicle, but it will be fine if kept under observation. (it may take a different dust cover or? to seal it up) rethreading to a smaller size (or metric just a little smaller is also OK. Jim
