I think it is the opposite of funny when I sometimes get on my soap box about government and taxes today and people gladly accept taxes as a way of life. Some wonder why I am purposely being strategic in my building plans on the farm to avoid taxes. Well, government is OUT OF CONTROL. This thread scares me to death and something I see coming. you are right. You give them more, then they just ask for even more. Well, they don;t even ask because we have somehow raised a demon that we cannot kill.

About the time government was allowed to pass any and everything without a vote is when the slow decline started. I am all for FAIR taxation with a VERY heavy emphasis on budgeting and being thrifty.

Property tax PIZZES me off! They literally push elderly people right out of their homes by increasing taxes. Then they want to tell me what I can/can't build, what color, how big, etc on MY property. What is "MINE" anymore?

It is just too easy for government today to just force a tax increase when what they should do is cut spending or find out where the leak is!! I am going to avoid them at all costs until someone wakes up because I should not suffer through life so someone can buy a new yacht this year.

Let me ask this one that confuses me. You want to build something so you pay a permit fee. Excuse is this is how these departments are funded. So I am paying the people that my taxes already pay to do their job. I am paying twice! Pay an inspection fee. Awesome....My taxes pay your wages so you can charge a fee to do your job that I already paid for...

Today's Featured Article - The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and ... [Read Article]
