In this particular instance I was replacing the throttle friction disks. it was at my place due to a broken push rod, so I decided to take care of some other minor problems while waiting for parts. P.S. I am 65, and not a professional mechanic, just helping out a neighbor with a problem. Yesterday we used the same trick to take the roll pin out of the pto shift lever. Glad I had an extra punch I could grind down to size. need to get some more now. I really hate those rolled up spring pins they used in those things.
