the reason the rims get rusty from calcium is the valve stems start seeping fluid and that rust happens pretty much instantly if not washed off. i have seen rims with calcium that had the stuff in there for years and rims are perfect shape, but also have seen completely rusted out rims from the same stuff. this is just neglect on the owners part not doing preventative maintenance. new valve stems are like 5.00 compared to a new rim. calcium is also heavier than water or washer fluid thats why it is the choice, at least from years ago when these tractors had to earn their keep.
