Hello I am new to this forum and new to the hobby of collecting old tractors. Last fall I acquired a partially restored (painted pretty) Farmall M. The serial number is 174836X. I am thinking it is a 1948! But what does the X stand for? A friend who collects a few tractors looked at it today and stated he thinks my tractor has been retrofitted with newer style brakes. The are a plate type. Could this be a factory upgrade of a dealer upgrade? Thanks in advance.
