In past decades, I had a problem with my Ford 302, when it was shut down for a short period it was very hard to start and when it did, blew black smoke. The problem was the float valve leaked a little and the fuel pump pressure could over fill the carb, gas then leaked down into the intake. Parked over night the excess fuel might became dispersed and was not always a problem, nor was a short term stop, but medium term was trouble.
