Hi, is this the David Brown 885 with 3 cyl 40HP engine or the CaseIH 885 with 4 cyl D-268 engine? Did this problem start after you replaced the fuel filters? What kind of fuel filters are on the tractor? Bosch, CAV?
Dieseltech happened to mention this: If NAPA/WIX filters are used make sure the top outer fuel inlet groove is open. Have made service calls to remove an extra O ring, restricting flow. Top is sealed with O ring in base groove only. See this done on MF Perkins engines, or anything with CAV 296/796 style filters. Worth a look.

Examine the porcelain insulator and points.
