If I'm understanding your question correctly, I had twobon my Chevies I had to cut the end off as the mechanism wouldn't lower. I simply cut the end knob off the cable, lubed up the mechanism, doubled the little cable up, and installed a small cable clamp, (looks like a tiny muffler clamp) & put the spare back in position. They have worked well for years now. I like the spare tire out of the way/in the factory position.
