That does sound like a bad U-joint. Luckily, that would also be the easiest and least expensive thing to fix if one is bad.
Have someone else run the baler as you walk along side and listen to the U-joints when the baler works hard. One U-joint may be chattering pretty loudly by now if you can feel the vibration at the tractor seat. Your tractor has a Sound-Guard cab?
