For years now, I have only been buying John Deere oil, even though it is a bit more costly. The JD +50 oil is a multi viscosity 15-40 oil and is suitable for all temperature ranges. Plus, even though it is more expensive, the maintenance interval is extended. I've been using it in my pickup, which has an oil life monitor, and it has been going 12-15,000 miles between changes. So, I kind of figure that even though it costs more, it pays for itself by only having to change it half as often....
