Mendham is top heavy with wealth, no doubt, I did really enjoy the site jobs I worked on in that area, I was mainly an equipment operator but also ran tandem dump and lowboy for Tobar Site Contractors located at 4 John St, now adjacent to Morris County Jail, which is where we used to screen and stockpile topsoil. 20 years have passed since then. There was a great little breakfast joint with the nicest people right off the 287 exit, on Ridgedale ave, ridgedale lunch or something, you just never forget kind people and this gentleman that ran it was the best.
The owner of Tobar, spent a lot of money to convert one of the shops to a nightclub, restaurant, they had a sandpit and volley ball leagues at night and I used to enjoy literally coming back to work later to play. It was almost too good, cause you had to pass by the place on the way out, always a cold one, a good meal if you wanted, not every day, but like I've always lived, here and there, moderation, sometimes a few of us, but none of us stayed long, one driver who had the best sense of humor, I'll never forget, Vic Delmont, he'd have one, make us laugh and then leave, rarely another, he told the mechanic with a straight face that he let out all the water in the spark plugs on one of the mack tandems one of these early evenings after work, it was a classic, "you what ?" the mechanic said, good memories, and fun people to work with. See you get me living old times again, every time you post photos from there, I do need to visit those areas again someday.
Not to hijack your thread, those were fun times in my mid 20's and its great to see any photos of the area ! I could still play hoop and give the younger guys a hard time in those days, my how things change LOL !
