Got stung twice yesterday, for the first time in a couple of years. Was hooking up a trailer that had been used only a couple of weeks ago- reached up under the ball hitch to make sure the clamp was back where it would clear, and felt the little paper comb, then two quick stings.
Its a strange little wasp-like critter, with black and yellow markings- a little elongated, like a mud-dauber wasp, but not as long, and colored more like a yellow jacket. I've only begun seeing them in the past few years- they make a little paper comb which is attached by a very thin "attachment". They are not aggressive.
And I seem to have developed an immunity to bee stings- it hurts for just a minute or so, and within 5 minutes, I cannot even tell I've been stung. No swelling, no pain or tightness, nothing. I'm not complainin'.
