Yes it seems to be a fairly clean burn. They were reporting no sheen on the water at first but that has been revised to half a mile sheen. Natural gas mixes with the water and evaporates much better than oil. Plus seas offshore are 4+ feet tonight so the surf is mixing the gas into the gulf water better.
The rig is about 55 miles off the coast in about 150 feet of water. No reports I heard mention estimates of flow rate. It blew out yesterday (Tuesday) morning about 10am and caught fire about 10pm last night local time.
