I have never had one, but in the days that I operated my own business and had three techs on the road, I kept after them to keep their tool boxes and truck stock in good order. Without fail more was always less. There were certain parts and tools that were needed on a regular basis in order to get a machine up again. Without the machine the customer would be at the least greatly inconvenienced and sometimes forced to close their doors. Lack of a part could mean a 100 mile drive back to the shop to get it, then return to replace it. Lack of the right part in the box or bins would be hidden by too much other "STUFF" so we had frequent clean-outs to eliminate the extra stuff. I have noticed that techs now like to carry bags instead of boxes. Whenever I have looked in one they contain more junk in the bottom than useful parts or supplies.
