But gotta pay out welfare don't you know.....seems to me when they cut the Army by half in the 90s they claimed that we could fight a 2 fronted war with 400,000. heck we couldn't fight 2 very small 2 fronted war with 400,000. 400,000 sounds like a lot but almost 70% are support, not combat troops. And that's at division level, not total strength. So 400,000 gave us 10 divisions plus a separate BDE. Most divisions are about 28,000 with 8,000 being fighters. So that's 280,000 in divisions and another 120,000 in HQ DA and other supporting activities. About 80,000 are infantry, armor, artillery and Cav. Yea those numbers are kinda scary.
