I used dial up and then a local provider who transmitted from towers and then Hughes net, and finally Wildblue. Living where I do I am not served by cheaper companies, like you find in urban areas, but I won't trade that to live in an urban area. Ha!
The towers are the best deal but you have to be line of sight and that means just what it says. You have to actually see their antennas from where your antenna will be. If not, forget it.
I can't so I went to Hughes. Got tired of them and went to Wildblue with their new system. Really fast and so far satisfactory service. I'm paying $130ish per month to get the 25 Gb monthly allowance. Worked my way up as all the sites nowdays have all these moving things in the margins and all and it all eats up bandwidth as do videos. If you watch Youtube, you spend a ton of bits watching those videos.
But most of the spare time and other things, like online ordering things we need are done on the net so why not get something that works for you.
