Early 80's we went from Illinois to Phoenix to Durango and Silverton and stayed in Gunnison one night in the middle of September. It was some kind of hunting season and the motel was full of boozed up hunters partying all night. I don't remember what the temperature was but I couldn't believe how cold it was in the morning. Had my Corvette and had to hold the choke open to keep it running. Colorado is some nice country, we've been there five times and I like driving around in the mountains.
