mj........the first time I went to Gunny, came over Monarch Pass from college in Pueblo. Had mobile amateur radio transmitter with 500V generator and was trying for DX (distance award) on top of the pass. Ended up down in the valley by some "hot-spring" fed river fly fishing. Slept on the COLD hard ground. 20-yo body didn't care, eh?
2nd time, drove thru the Black Canyon past the Curecanti Needle. Dad had an enhanced photo of the canyon with the Empire State building being swallowed up in the depths of the canyon.
